One of the most important jobs of a puppy raiser (and one of the most fun) is socializing the puppy; taking him/her to the many different places they would be expected to experience as a working guide dog.

While out-and-about we practice ignoring distractions, going up and down stairs, and using the elevator.

The best part of socializing a puppy is meeting and greeting the many people who stop to  pet and ask questions.

I get to promote GDA and the puppy gets to practice greeting gently and calmly and being able to ignore all sorts of distractions!
